By the time he was 16, he wrote a song that was awarded by the National Songwriters Association of U.S.A. Alongside Indian influences at home, he became heavily influenced by R&B. Raghav attended Sir Winston Churchill High School, and at the age of 15, music became a heavy feature in his life. His parents soon moved to Calgary and Fort McMurray, Alberta, where he grew up. And, of course, Pooja Sehgal is stunning.Raghav was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada to Hindu parents from India. Till then, let us know how you like the song – personally, I love the “fresh” feel of both the song and the video it really does live up to the title. So it looks like his travel itinerary will decide what that 34th instrument will be, and you bet Team MissMalini can’t wait to hear him play it. And, of course, we had to ask what the next instrument he’s planning on learning is! Raghav said that he has no particular instrument in mind, but whenever he travels, he likes to pick up instruments from that country. He’s also producing a Punjabi film (for which he’s also working on the music), and should that work out well, he’d be willing to dabble in production a bit more. He’s got a couple more Bollywood soundtracks in the pipeline, but can’t say much about them yet. On the other hand, though, Bollywood helps take him out of his comfort zone and explore music in a different way, since he’s following someone else’s vision and has to create tracks that fit the film on a whole. With an independent album, he said, the vision is all his – he does what he wants and the control is in hands.

Since he’s done quite a few Bollywood soundtracks as well, we asked him what’s the biggest difference between doing an independent album and a film album. I guess that way he knows what’s in his mind translates to what’s on screen! Raghav Sachar

Raghav answered saying it’s happened before that his vision hadn’t match with someone else’s – so he prefers to handle everything himself. Raghav directed the video himself, so of course we had to ask him if there was a particular reason he wanted to handle the entire process on his own – from composing the song, to singing it, to starring in the video, to directing it. A crew was quickly assembled and they shot the song right there in Switzerland. While there, Raghav thought the setting suited his song perfectly – and then when he saw Pooja Sehgal, a family friend, he asked her to be in the video. As for the video, it was shot on a whim in Switzerland. Right there, the chorus was created, and he asked his lyricist to begin penning words for the song. While waiting to do an interview at a radio station, he was inspired by the romance and freshness of the monsoon, and started strumming his guitar. Raghav says Ishq Ki Subha happened on a rainy day. He’s out with his latest single, Ishq Ki Subha, and we caught up with him on a rainy monsoon day to hear about the inspiration behind this song and what’s next for him. Not only can he sing – he also composes, directs, and can play a whopping 33 different instruments (and counting). Raghav Sachar‘s list of talents is endless.
